--Artist Statement-- |
|
When people see my work I want something to open in them quick and bright. An opening that feels elemental and familiar, perhaps in a place that has been long forgotten. A place before thoughts, maybe in the chest... aaah, that. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, then losing many friends to the disease, I turned to photography to express fear, loss, surrender and grace. Nature is the only palette Išve found big enough to hold all of these. My companion in this dialogue is Rebecca Wilson, who was 17 when she lost her mother to breast cancer. Through story telling with landscape we offer a peek into the resiliency of the human soul. |
